Places to enjoy in San José

National Theather of Costa Rica:

 It is located on the east side of the Plaza Juan Mora Fernández in the city of San José, on 2nd avenue Libertador Juan Rafael Mora, streets 3 and 5 in the Cathedral district, San José. Inside the National Theater of Costa Rica, there is a delicate neo-Renaissance style with imposing pure glass lamps and Carrara marble columns. The most important parts that make up the National Theater are the lobby, the main staircase, and the auditorium.

It is a beautiful place because the auditorium is large and magical, many people can enjoy the interesting activities that the theater performs. It is a historical place, it was built in 1891.


   
Culture Square:
 It is located in the Cathedral district, in the center of San José, the capital of Costa Rica. The Plaza is an open area of ​​45 x 80 meters that has a fountain - skylight, green areas, and several levels as terraces according to the topography of the land. It is integrated on the west side with the Plaza Juan Mora Fernández, the boulevards of Avenida Central and Calle Tres. In the eastern sector, it includes access to museums and galleries, located on three underground levels, of which the square serves as a roof.

The square from the outside looks beautiful, the shape it has is very interesting since it is very modern, it is a very clean place and it is characterized by being very famous in the country.



Simón Bolívar National Zoological Park and Botanical Garden:
  It is located 300 meters north of Morazán Park.
In the Simón Bolívar National Zoo and Botanical Garden you can see multiple species of fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals. This place has great attractions, since among them are the jaguar, the African lion, the agile riverbed, the sloth, and other animals. During your visit, you will also enjoy the large lagoon that the zoo has.

It is a cheap and touristy place because many people come to visit this place. It is a windy, spacious and pleasant place because it is enjoyed when observing the animals.



 National Museum of Costa Rica:
 It is located on 17th street, between Central and 2 avenues, in the Old Bella Vista Barracks in the province of San José. The museum is situated in the Bella Vista Fortress, which was built in 1917 and originally used as military barracks, specifically during the 1948 Costa Rica civil war. Tourists can see hundreds of bullet holes in the walls.



   Jade Museum:
  It is located on Central Avenue, 13th street, Bella Vista, Cathedral, San José.  The extensive collection of Pre-Columbian artifacts housed by the museum are the main attraction and include items such as statues, mutates (stone tables), early working implements, and more. The jade, pottery, and sculptures of various materials are displayed at El Museo del Jade Lic. Fidel Tristán Castro date between 500 BC and 1500 AD. The five floors of exhibit space also contain artwork from more recent Costa Rican artists including a mural by Cesár Valverde Vega. Many of the exhibits at the Jade Museum are interactive and informative.


    
    Pre-Columbian Gold Museum:
 It is located in the Culture Square, Central Avenue, street 5, San José. About 688 pieces of pre-Columbian gold are displayed and with the intention of sharing the richness of the archaeological collection, more ceramic and lithic pieces from the various regions of the country and periods of history are also included. 
Here you will find a series of artifacts that show the great technical knowledge and worldview that distinguish the pre-Columbian indigenous identity. These are part of the archeology collection of the Central Bank of Costa Rica, made up of a total of 3,567 pieces of various materials, such as metals, ceramics, and lithics. Take advantage of the display cabinets to observe them from all angles and reflect on all the issues that we have seen in the museum.


    
Central Market of San José:
It is located 250 meters northwest of the Central Park of San José. It is considered a historic market in San José, established in 1880, occupies a whole block from the central avenue, 250 meters northwest of Central Park. It was declared a Cultural Heritage for its strong tradition and identity. Have easy availability when making your purchases. 

The market contains a complex of narrow alleys that is very large with more than 200 shops, stalls, and restaurants with famous foods. A wide variety of meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, coffee, and other products are for sale including snakeskin boots and cowboy saddles, herbal remedies, flowers, souvenirs, and local crafts. It is an overpopulated place as tens of thousands of people visit the market every day.
        



Mélico Salazar Popular Theater:
It is located on Avenue 2 between Central Street and Street 2 in San José. The Melico Salazar Popular Theater is a Costa Rican public theater, declared a cultural heritage, and very large with a capacity for 1,180 spectators. It has been owned by the Ministry of Culture and Youth of Costa Rica since 1980.
It is a unique theater that people enjoy being there, perfect to find a way to relax and very traditional in the country, since it is very famous nationally.
The institution facilitates the implementation of cultural projects for the development of the performing arts, through the establishment of an organic structure supported by high-quality and efficient administrative, operational, technological, and artistic practices.
      

    
La Sabana Park:
  It is located on the Avenue of the Americas in the Mata Redonda district, in the city of San José.
La Sabana Park is a 72-hectare place dedicated to sports, culture, and recreation. It is the main and largest open space for public use in San José. A park with multiple recreational options, rich in flora and fauna, and with easy access. It is a very quiet, clean, and charming place to enjoy with the family.
